Denpasar, July 4, 2025 — United In Diversity (UID) Bali Campus held UID Workshop: Sustainable Business and Innovation – Exploring The Possibilities at UID Bali Campus. The event was designed as an interactive forum that brought together academics, business practitioners, and community members to jointly address sustainability challenges through innovation and collaboration.

The workshop featured insightful contributions from speakers Nimas Mega Purnamasari, Director of UID Bali Campus and Executive Director of Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center; Annisa Fauziah, Founder of TRIcycle.id and Rekynd; and Kadek Dwi Cahaya Putra, Lecturer at Bali State Polytechnic. Each of them shared unique insights and personal experiences in building a business ecosystem that not only creates economic value but also upholds environmental and social responsibility. Discussions ranged from the transformation of waste into fashion products to the crucial role of education in shaping environmentally-conscious future leaders, and the potential of Bali to become a thriving hub for sustainable innovation.

Nimas Mega emphasized that when it comes to sustainability, concrete results may not be immediately visible, but every individual has a role to play. These roles, when embraced collectively, will create a long-term impact. “We can’t always expect quick outcomes in sustainability efforts,” she said, “but the actions we take, no matter how small—will shape a better Earth in the years to come.” Annisa Fauziah highlighted the importance of staying true to oneself in the journey of environmental stewardship. “Authenticity is also a way to inspire others,” she shared. “There are countless ways to care for the planet, and being yourself is one of them. The Earth needs all of our uniqueness.” Meanwhile, Kadek Dwi Cahaya Putra noted a growing awareness among businesses to shift toward more environmentally friendly practices, but he also reminded that real change requires active participation from the consumer side. “Businesses are starting to change,” he said, “but as consumers, we also need to be smart. Our choices matter.”

Beyond the discussions, participants took part in an interactive session using the Innovator Compass, a collaborative tool designed to map out challenges, needs, and opportunities for impactful solutions. Through this process, participants worked in groups to develop real-world sustainability ideas, which they presented in an open forum. The session encouraged inclusive dialogue and nurtured bottom-up innovation.

The UID Workshop became more than just a platform for conversation; it transformed into a participatory learning space that ignited the spirit of collective action for a more sustainable future. With an approach that blended inspiration, collaboration, and real-time engagement, the event served as a strong reminder that sustainability is not the responsibility of one sector alone—it is a shared journey. “Sustainable innovation is not just a trend, it’s a necessity.
