Denpasar, April 27, 2025 — In remembrance of the spiritual and humanitarian legacy of Pope Francis, UID Bali Campus, in collaboration with Tsinghua Southeast Asia (SEA) and Kura-Kura Bali, held the Pope Francis Memorial Prayer at the open-air venue of Three Mountains, Kura-Kura Bali. The event offered a reflective and spiritual moment that brought together representatives of different faiths.

The ceremony invited all staff members and representatives from four major religions in Indonesia: Hinduism, Catholicism, Islam, and Protestantism. The event began with the Pope’s Living Story, a video presentation highlighting Pope Francis’s life journey and his contributions to global peace. The video also featured tributes from several national figures, including the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.

A heartfelt and solemn atmosphere accompanied the sharing session by selected participants, followed by an interfaith prayer led in turns by religious leaders: Jero Mangku Made Sadya (Hindu), Ariani (Catholic), Maria Nastiti (Protestant), and Putra (Islam). Each prayer was delivered with sincerity, fostering a sense of harmony in diversity—an essential spirit of the event.

The program continued with an explanation of the HATI installation, presented by Beau from UID Bali Campus. The installation is part of the Scholas Occurrentes initiative—a global movement founded by Pope Francis to promote peace through education, art, and culture. The HATI installation showcased diverse cultural memories and interfaith activities, uniquely and symbolically presented through simple yet meaningful elements.

Next, the event featured a poetry reading by Nonik, followed by the Candle Lighting Ceremony and Wander Wall Pray as acts of remembrance and hope for a more peaceful and loving world. As the closing part of the ceremony, participants were invited to witness and reflect upon the Mangrove Seed from Pope Francis, a symbol of life and hope for a greener and more sustainable future.

Through this event, UID Bali Campus, Tsinghua SEA, and Kura-Kura Bali express their hope that the values Pope Francis embodied—love, humility, and unity—will continue to live on and inspire people across religions and generations.
