United In Diversity (UID) collaborated with The David and Lucile Packard Foundation to hold the “Graduation Celebration of the BEKAL (Bersama Kelola Alam Adil Lestari) Pemimpin 3.0 Program” on October 27, 2023, in Jakarta.

This year, the BEKAL Pemimpin program graduated 60 selected participants from 27 provinces representing the government sector, business world, academics, NGOs, media, and community groups that deal with various issues, including terrestrial and maritime issues, cross-sector issues such as technology, governance, environment, and policy.

As a leadership capacity-building program, the BEKAL Pemimpin classroom is designed to create a ‘microcosm’ that reflects the complexity of managing Indonesia's natural resources.

In the last three months of the learning journey, the 3rd batch of BEKAL Pemimpin participants were asked to actualize their leadership in facing the real challenges of managing Indonesia's natural resources.

The ten prototypes were created which were born from the real anxiety of a system actor in the BEKAL Pemimpin supported by his colleagues as consultants and trainers according to their respective callings. This prototype is not only the next 'training ground' for leaders but also a laboratory for providing management solutions for natural resources brought together by cross-sector system actors.

Most importantly, the BEKAL Pemimpin hopes that this can be a glimmer of hope that a better future can be fully achieved through the values of mutual cooperation that have been passed down to Indonesian society.

Here are the 10 prototypes of the BEKAL Pemimpin 3.0 graduate:

1. Baby Shark: Building collective awareness and transparency in the small-scale shark fishing system in Sangihe, North Sulawesi.

2. Blind Spot Green Swans: Building collaboration to create a sustainable business model that is sustainable and based on local wisdom.

3. Gorontalo Green School: Growing awareness of sustainability based on local wisdom in the Pohuwato Gorontalo Islamic Boarding School environment.

4. Konservasi Membumi: Creating economic independence through sustainable forest protection in South Barito, Central Kalimantan.

5. Finbargo: Building a sustainable food narrative to encourage local wisdom food system practices in Indonesia.

6. Nagari Wanatani: Strengthening sustainable forestry governance and local wisdom in Agam, West Sumatra.

7. Mamimpin L'Bajo: Creating a young generation who is aware of the environment and conservation in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara.

8. Perahu: Utilization of information technology to support the economic independence of small fishermen in Demak, Central Java.

9. Cinta Papua: Building an ecotourism village in a sustainable manner and utilizing local wisdom in Biak Numfor, Papua.

10. Magis Purba Hutan Ranjuri: Creating institutions and systems for sustainable forest management and local wisdom in Sigi, Central Sulawesi.
